McGuire, 29, saw action in 53 games for the Red Sox, posting a .575 OPS while throwing out 25% of runners in 2024. He has a .664 career OPS over parts of 7 seasons.
The Cubs new catcher spent 5 years in Toronto from 2018-2022 when he was traded to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for catcher Zach Collins.
Despite signing a minor league deal, McGuire should see some time in the majors next season with the Cubs.
