Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins decided to trade Teoscar Hernandez two years ago to the Seattle Mariners and the move is still haunting him.

In 2022, Teoscar Hernandez was trade to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Erik Swanson and Adam Macko. Over the last two years, the Blue Jays have been in need of some extra offense and Hernandez has gone on to have a great season this year in Los Angeles as he is currently dominating the playoffs.
Teoscar Hernández, who spent six seasons with the Jays from 2017 through 2022, heads into tonight's Game 3 of the NLCS with the Los Angeles Dodgers, who he signed with this offseason on a one-year deal. He's hit two huge home runs thus far during the playoffs (including a grand slam in last week's Game 3 of the NLDS against the San Diego Padres) and has left Jays fans wondering what might have been. -Laskaris

Clearly this was a huge mistake by Atkins who did not want to pay Hernandez and perfect to give the team so money to go and sign free agents which he has failed to do over the past two years.
Now Atkins has a chance at turning the clocks back as Hernandez is coming off an incredible season with the Dodgers as he is set to hit the free agent market in a few weeks and Toronto could end up being a landing spot.
Some see this as a way for Atkins to make up from his mistake from 2022 while others feel like Atkins ego will get in the way and he will not sign Hernandez because that would be admitting that he made a terrible move.
