Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani's interpreter has finally been charged for stealing $16 million from the star player and gambling with it.
It was announced at the beginning of the season that Ohtani's interpreter stole multiple millions from him and has been gambling with it without the Dodgers pitchers knowledge.
It was announced today that federal authorities in an L.A. court revealed that Ippei Mizuhara, the longtime interpreter and close associate of Shohei Ohtani, faces charges of bank fraud. Allegedly, Mizuhara transferred over $16 million from Ohtani's account to an illicit sportsbook.
Ippei Mizuhara has been charged with stealing more than $16 million from Shohei Ohtani, according to federal investigators
Many have wondered since the accusations if Ohtani was involved at all or if Mizuhara was placing the bets for him since it is a large amount of money to not see being taken out.
Ohtani has since spoken to the media claiming he was a victim of the situation and claims to have no idea about it, adding he has never placed a bet on baseball or any other sport.
Regardless of all this drama off of the field, it seems like it does not seem to be affecting the star pitcher as he has been off to a great start with his new team.
