The Toronto Blue Jays look like they might be raising their offer to free agent Anthony Santander after getting nowhere with first offer.
News came out last week that Santander who originally did not take the Blue Jays first deal is no open to taking a shorter term in hopes of getting a larger yearly salary.

The Blue Jays made Santander a four year offer worth $82 million a couple week ago but he did not accept since at the time he was looking for a deal on a five to six year term.

According to a recent report, the Blue Jays might raise their offer to a five year deal worth $89 million which would pay him $17.8 million per season according to Spotrac's projections.
Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report recently predicted the Orioles star would sign a deal with the rival Toronto Blue Jays this winter. Miller cited Spotrac's prediction that the deal would be worth $89 million over five years. -Pressnell
While many believed that the Blue Jays are the clear front runners to land Santander, sources have stated that the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels are also interesting in the former Orioles outfielder.
"The primary teams believed to still be in on Santander are the Blue Jays, Angels, and Red Sox," Miller wrote. "We would throw the Giants in that mix, as well, particularly if they don't sign Flaherty or Alonso. Both the Royals and the Tigers could also be in play if it's more of a $50M bidding war than a $100M bidding war. -Pressnell
After the off-season the Blue Jays have had, taking multiple big swings at top end free agents and striking out on all of them, signing Santander would be a huge step up especially for their offense next season.
Adding Santander and at least one starting pitcher would be considered a solid off-season for the Blue Jays overall even though it could have been much better if they ended up landing Juan Soto, Corbin Burnes or Roki Sasaki.
Hopefully Ross Atkins is able to at least get a couple deals done before the start of Spring Training.
