The Toronto Blue Jays are still not sure what to do with Bo Bichette as he does not want to re-sign in Toronto which has led to trade rumors, the latest involving the Seattle Mariner and Luis Castillo.

Earlier this off-season, it was made clear that Bichette would not be interested in signing his next contract with the Blue Jays after how last season went, he is apparently looking for a fresh start.

Bichette is coming off a rough year in 2024 filled with injuries and struggles at the plate which is why he is looking to sign elsewhere next off-season in hopes of turning this around.
Acording to recent reports, the Blue Jays could be interested in a one for one trade with the Seattle Mariners which would send Bichette to Seattle in exchange for pitcher Luis Castillo.
Content creator Jim Riley recently evaluated hypothetical trades in a YouTube video, and strongly supported a move that would ship Bichette to the Seattle Mariners for three-time All-Star starting pitcher Luis Castillo. -Roberts

This trade could be solid for both teams as the Mariners could benefit from adding Bichette as he would help improve their offense while Castillo would be a solid addition for the Blue Jays starting rotation.
"Get Bo Bichette. You have one year of Bo. It improves your offense. Try to work out an extension," Riley said from the Mariners' perspective. -Riley

"If you can't work out the extension, at least Castillo has turned into something that helps you with the bats and saves you some money. You can go add another piece." -Riley

Castillo is coming off a solid season in 2024 with the Mariners as he finished with a 3.64 ERA in 30 starts while also striking out 175 batters in 175 innings pitched.
Castillo, 32, had a 3.64 ERA in 30 starts last season, striking out 175 batters in 175 1/3 innings. There's some concern about his fly ball rate translating to more home runs away from the pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park, but he's proven to be a workhorse throughout his career. -Roberts

If the Blue Jays really have no chance at re-signing Bichette, they need to start looking at trade options as moving him at the deadline would not bring them back much of a return.
