It was revealed yesterday from USA today's reporter Bob Nightengale that third baseman free agent Alex Bregman has been given a six year offer from the Toronto Blue Jays as the team is working diligently to upgrade their offense.

Report: Alex Bregman has a six-year offer on the table from the Blue Jays

Bregman has been linked to the Blue Jays for the past couple of weeks as general manager Ross Atkins has made it clear that adding one or two bats to his lineup is a priority which has also Pete Alonso formerly of the New York Mets also on the short list.

Several other teams have been announced as potential contenders to land Bregman which include the Houston Astros, the Detroit Tigers and the Boston Red Sox.
Boasting a career .272/.366/.483 slash line, Bregman is the clear-cut top third baseman available this winter and is reportedly looking for a long-term deal that will surpass $200 million. - Tyson Shushkewich Bluejaysnation

Bregman would be a huge edition to the Blue Jays lineup as it would give the team more flexibility on the field and potentially if the team has trouble signing Vladimir Guerrero Jr to a long-term deal.

A two-time All-Star and a runner-up to the MVP Award in 2019, Bregman has surpassed the 20+ home run mark on five different occasions and amassed a career-high 41 knocks during his impressive 2019 run. Through 1111 games, Bregman owns a .848 OPS and a 132 OPS+ but has seen a slight decline in his play since his impressive showing just before the pandemic. - Tyson Shushkewich Bluejaysnation

Bregman deal have potential of aging poorly over time

The 31-year-old star would be a welcome addition to the Blue Jays but general manager Ross Atkins could find himself with a contract that may age poorly over time.
Bregman is over 30 years old and could run into issues in terms of injuries and a decrease in his offence overtime, especially considering how much money he is looking for with his agent Scott Boras.
Per @BNightengale, the #BlueJays have a six-year offer presented to 3B Alex Bregman. Bregman has put up a 4.0+ bWAR over the last three seasons.

This season feels like a now or never moment for the Atkins - Shapiro regime as the Blue Jays need to show the American League and the rest of baseball that they are going to compete this year especially with the young talent they still have.
Putting together a great season and a long playoff run could be what is needed to help sign their young stars and give the team a better chance at long term success.
