MLB insider Keegan Matheson calls out the Toronto Blue Jays front office in interview

During an interview this afternoon on Sportsnet 590, Matheson stated that the Blue Jays wasted the majority of the off-season so far on going after players that they did not have a chance at signing like Juan Soto, Corbin Burnes and Teoscar Hernandez.

Matheson pointed out that the Blue Jays cannot just sign players to fill out their roster as they have done in past years with so much uncertainty around Vladimir Guerrero Jr possibly playing his last year in Toronto.

It is clear to Matheson that this cannot be about trying to make a push for the final Wild Card spot because at that point the team might as well begin the rebuild right away instead of dragging it on.

The Blue Jays clearly wasted their time going after Soto who the Mets made clear they would not be outbid and trying to sign Burnes who stated he wanted to stay on the West coast instead of trying to sign players they had a real shot at.

So far the Blue Jays off-season has been a disaster and they are doing exactly what they have done in the past few season which is simply fill out their lineup with no real goal in mind.

Toronto needs to start finding options that will help this team fight for first place and Ross Atkins needs to fin a way to lock these top free agents down.
