News was announced this afternoon on social media that beloved Toronto Blue Jays reporter for the Athletic, Kaitlyn McGrath, will be stepping down from her position in 2025.

The Blue Jays staff is far from loved in the city of Toronto but it's reporters and broadcast team on the other hand are quite famous in the city as Hazel Mae, Buck Martinez, Dan Schulman and even Kaitlyn McGrath are all loved by the fans.

The Athletic Blue Jays reporter Kaitlyn McGrath will be stepping down in 2025

Earlier this afternoon, McGrath took to social media to make a post stating that she has decided to leave The Athletic starting in the New Year and that it was a difficult decision to make.
Some personal news to close out 2024: I'm leaving The Athletic and the Blue Jays beat at the end of the year for another opportunity. This was a difficult decision after eight years at The Athletic. I'm so grateful for my time there, but this felt like the right time to pivot.
There has been no update on what McGrath will be doing in her next venture but it seems like she is leaving the Blue Jays behind and will be taking on a new adventure in the media world.
McGrath made sure to thank the Blue Jays organization in her posts as well a specifically naming the players, the coaches, executives and everyone who took the time to answer her questions.
I'm also grateful for the Blue Jays players, coaches and executives who answered my many questions -- all of them very smart, of course -- and shared their stories with me. The clubhouse can be an intimidating place, but so many associated with the Jays made me feel welcome
She probably did not decide to make a career change due to the poor state of the Blue Jays but she is leaving when the team seems to be at an all-time low which is great for her.
