Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider spoke to reporters this weekend of what he believes the team should be targeting in the off-season.
Free agency is set to kick off once the MLB post season is done as the Blue Jays prepare to make some seriously big moves in hopes of turning their team around for the upcoming season.
Manager John Schneider spoke to reporters yesterday after the final game on the season yesterday stating that he believes the main focus for the front office this off-season should be improving the bullpen, getting middle of the order batters and another catcher to help Alejandro Kirk out.
Asked about Blue Jays' off-season priorities, John Schneider reiterated that the bullpen needs to get better & a middle-of-the-order power bat would be ideal for the lineup. Plus Schneider would want a second catcher who can share the workload with Alejandro Kirk.

While these are all important areas that the Blue Jays need for to cover, it seems like Schneider forgot a key piece which most see as the number one priority which is signing Vladimir Guerrero to an extension.
If the Blue Jays are able to sign Guerrero to an extension prior to the opening of free agency, this will give the team a better idea of how much money they can spend on other players.
General manager Ross Atkins has definitely gone about running the team is a unique way over the years which is why even though signing Guerrero might look like the obvious move, it does not mean he will do it.
At the same time, as ownership assesses the past season, their is still a possibility that Atkins will not be around once free agency begins if they feel they need to go in another direction.
