The Toronto Blue Jays announced yesterday that they hired former outfielder Kevin Kiermaier as a coach which followed by him making a few bold statements about the team's future.

The Blue Jays announced last night that Kiermaier had been hired as a special assistant/outfielder coach for the 2025 season as he will be able to help some of their young outfielders like Davis Schneider and Jonatan Clase.

Kiermaier made it clear after retiring that he would love to return to Toronto because in his short amount of time with the team, he fell in love with the city and desperately wanted to return.
The former outfielder apparently asked the Blue Jays to simply give him a chance and that he would prove that he can help the team get better especially in the outfield which is why they hired him.
«Please, just trust me. Let me be a part of this. Let me bounce around,» Kiermaier told the Blue Jays. «Let me offer my services here, from top to bottom in the organization. Let me show you what I can do. Let me be the outfield whisperer to these guys.» -Kiermaier

After being hired, Kiermaier stated that he wanted to return because he loves the city but also that he believes the team has a ton of potential and some great talent which he wants to help develop.
«They've treated me great for years now. That's why I wanted to keep this relationship going. I love the people in this organization. There's too much potential and too much talent. There are too many great people to be away from for a year. I am thrilled.» -Kiermaier

Many would probably disagree with this after the season they had last year where the only player that seemed to have talent was Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
It will be interesting to see how Kiermaier ends up doing as a coach since he was one of the best outfielders in the MLB during his 12 year career and on paper looks like a great hire.
