MLB insider Jeff Passan recently called out the Toronto Blue Jays stating that they have no excuse on not going all in on free agent Alex Bregman.

The Blue Jays were seen as the top landing spot for Bregman earlier this off-season but have since dropped off a bit as many reports state that the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs are now the front runners.

MLB insider Jeff Passan calls out the Blue Jays regarding Alex Bregman

The Blue Jays could definetely benefit from adding Bregman to their roster this season as he would bring in some much needed offense and would be a great addition to their infield.
According to Passan, the Tigers, Astros and Red Sox all have good options and solid solid depth at third base which is why they might not go all in on Bregman but Passan added that the Blue Jays do not and that they have no excuse no to try everything to land him.
"The Tigers have a former top 100 prospect (Jace Jung) and a good platoon partner for him (Matt Vierling) at third. The Astros acquired Isaac Paredes from the Cubs to play third. The Red Sox's best hitter (Rafael Devers) is a third baseman, and they've got two high-ceiling infield prospects on the way in Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer. The Cubs' best prospect, Matt Shaw, plays second and third And the Blue Jays really have no excuse, beyond a luxury tax payroll already around $270 million that would leap into Steve Cohen tax territory with Bregman," writes Passan.

The one area that Passan added that could lightly be an issue is that a contract with Bregman would but them over the luxury tax payroll but that is a small price to pay for a solid player like him.
The Blue Jays do have Ernie Clement who proved last season that he can be a solid major league starter but they have very little depth at third base which the other interested teams have.
The non-Blue Jays teams interested in Bregman have fallback options to consider. The Blue Jays, however, with Ernie Clement slated to be their starting third baseman without Bregman, do not. -Rotman

Clearly the smart decision hear would be for the Blue Jays to go all in on trying to land Bregman but it looks like the have other plans.
