The Blue Jays struggled from the start against the Royals' top pitcher, Cole Ragans. Meanwhile, the Royals wasted no time capitalizing on a walk to set up Salvador Perez's two-run homer off José Berros.

Blue Jays' road trip ended with an inglorious rain delay and loss on Thursday. With a 13-13 record, Toronto has much more to prove as they return home to face the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Following a rain delay, crew chief Chris Guccione declared the field conditions too soft in the shortstop and third-base areas, abruptly ending the game. Now with a record of 13 wins and 13 losses, the Blue Jays find themselves at a .500 mark.

A .500 record isn't awful, they still have time to turn things around. However, Toronto finds itself in a tough spot as other teams in the American League (AL) East division are performing exceptionally well.
Following a disappointing road trip, the Blue Jays have slipped to fourth place in the AL East standings, showing little signs of resurgence upon their return home to face Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers.
The team's key players, including George Springer, Bo Bichette, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., continue to struggle at the plate, hampering the lineup's recovery. Additionally, Toronto's home run production has been lackluster in 2024, with the team ranking 22nd in the league in this category.
The 2024 Toronto Blue Jays were expected to bring a new dynamic. Following a crushing playoff loss in 2022, fans hoped for a season where offense and pitching would finally align. Despite fleeting moments of success, the team hasn't overcome their persistent power struggles, even after 190 games since last year.
While not intentional, the Blue Jays' failure to meet expectations is evident. With pressure mounting, extended periods of losing are detrimental, and fans are starting to get frustrated.
