The Blue Jays had an interesting first 10 picks at they finished with 6 pitchers out of 10 players including 5 RHP and only 1 LHP.
Toronto's first round pick RHP Trey Yesavage seems to have been a great pick but fans were shocked when Ross Atkins decided to follow that up with 2 more pitchers, leading to 3 pitchers taken with their first 3 picks.
The #BlueJays through 10 rounds:
1 RHP Trey Yesavage 2 RHP Khal Stephen 3 LHP Johnny King 4 3B Sean Keys 4C OF Nick Mitchell 5 RHP Jackson Wentworth 6 C Aaron Parker 7 RHP Austin Cates 8 OF Eddie Micheletti Jr. 9 RHP Colby Holcombe 10 OF Carter Cunningham
Fans do not seem to be upset with the skill level of the players taken but more of the position of the players taken. The Blue Jays do need pitchers but they also have other necessities such as outfielder and catchers.
So basically the Jays decided to draft all college pitchers to compensate for their non existent depth in the minors instead of drafting for potnetially impact players.
