Put the win aside, Toronto Blue Jays fans are concerned about the relocation of the infamous 'Home Plate Lady'. She was nowhere to be seen in the Jays Home Opener.

The Toronto Blue Jays won their home opener last night, but some fans were still angry.

The longtime fan was off to the side and the internet had concerns about the reason why? While the game saw Jose Berrios pitch a stellar 6⅔ shutout innings and fan favoirte Davis Schneider contributing two runs in their 5-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
Fans weren't necessarily upset about the outcome, but the discontent stemmed from the placement of beloved figure in the stands: Home Plate Lady. More precisely, the disappointment arose from her relocation from behind home plate to a side position. Some even think that this could be a new MLB curse that are so popular in the league's cannon.

In response to the outrage, a statement was released to put the rumors to bed that she was not intentionally moved. A spokesperson for the team wrote that all fans who have season tickets, after the renovation was complete, they were the ones who had selected where to sit.

'Home Plate Lady' is an icon in Toronto and has been trending on X (formally Twitter), sparking memes and gifs where fans call for answers.
The lore around her started in 2019, when she calmly faced a foul ball without flinching. During the 2020 border closure, the team's marketing director included a cardboard cutout of her at all Blue Jays games in Buffalo, even changing her iconic scarves on a game-to-game basis. Her popularity was evident when she received a standing ovation in 2021 upon returning to the stands for the Jays' first home game in Toronto post-lockdown.
Let's hope her new seating arrangement is not going to be the new curse heard all around the league, as the Jays need some good fortune right now.
