During the Toronto Blue Jays end of the season press conference, reporters peppered general Ross Atkins with questions that he seemed to have no answers for.
Atkins stated that the Blue Jays are interested in bringing in a solid hitter this off-season but made it clear the team will not focus on necessarily a player that hits a lot of homeruns since he does not believe that is how you win games in the post-season.
During last night's electric game between the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers, ESPN pointed out a stats graphic that basically proved just how wrong Atkins is by stating that 85% of teams that out homerun their opponents go onto win the game.
ESPN just had a graphic that says teams win ~85% of their post season games when they out HR their opponent.
Ross Atkins said yesterday that HRs are not how you win games in the post season.
This graphic from ESPN pointed out exactly what every fan in Toronto knows, that Atkins is completely lost and should not be a general manager of a baseball team. Then again fans cannot be mad about these comments since Atkins does not have much experience with winning games in the playoffs which is why he is wrong in what he said.
Well, to be accurate, he said that "contact wins in the postseason", but your implied point that he clearly doesn't understand the sport he's managing stands.
Bautista didn't hit a single that is for sure.
We had both problems this year....didn't hit them, didn't prevent them. No chance Vlad needs help! And so do the pitchers!
There's another stat that says you lose 100% of your playoff series with Ross Atkins. If you make the playoffs.
