Blue Jays officials have pledged a significantly enhanced fan experience, particularly for those occupying seats in the lower bowl of the ballpark, as part of a comprehensive six-month restoration effort. This marks the second phase of renovations at the Rogers Centre, following the unveiling of a revamped outfield area last season. The total cost for both phases of the renovation project is estimated to be approximately $400 million.
The first phase of renovations, which concluded in April of last year, focused on replacing all seats in the 500-level section. This allowed for the creation of five open social spaces, such as the family-oriented Park Social and the Corona Rooftop Patio. Additionally, enhancements included the installation of raised bullpens and the development of a new outfield.
Initially announced in 2022, the project was anticipated to require approximately $300 million in funding. However, as we all know, renovations always take longer and cost more. The updated figures released on Thursday indicate that the total cost has escalated, nearing the $400 million mark.
