Blue Jays blown out by Rays as Brandon Lowe steals the show
After a massive Opening Day win on Thursday, the Toronto Blue Jays were looking to come through with a second win in a row. Unfortunately for them, they ended up getting blown out, 8-2, by the Tampa Bay Rays in a classic case of revenge.
Overall, it was a not good start for the Blue Jays as they gave up a grand total of four runs in the third inning. As the game progressed, the Rays were able to chip away at the Blue Jays and kept piling on the score. Brandon Lowe ended up leading the way for the Rays as he notched a game-leading four runs batted in. Yandy Diaz of the Rays had two RBIs, while Jose Caballero and Randy Arozarena had one each.
As for the Blue Jays, it wasn't a phenomenal day for their hitters. However, they did see some production from George Springer, who hit a home run. He also scored a home run in the first game of the season, which brings him two on the season. Justin Turner added a run for the Blue Jays in the ninth inning, but it was too little too late as the team lost by the aforementioned 8-2 score.

Now, the Blue Jays find themselves with a record of 1-1 on the season. Of course, we are very early on in the season with 160 games to go. There is a lot of baseball left to be played, and despite this loss, the Blue Jays are going into their third match of the year with some positives. For instance, Springer is off to a hot start after a career-worst 2023.
Tomorrow, the Blue Jays will take on the Rays, yet again at Tropicana Field. This game is set to begin at 4:10 PM Eastern Standard Time. If you are in Canada, you can watch the game on Sportsnet. The Blue Jays will play the Rays again on Sunday before heading off to Houston for a three-game series against the Astros.
