The Toronto Blue Jays announced two roster transactions including one that will see Yariel Rodriguez head off to IL for the next 15 days.
Blue Jays pitcher Yariel Rodriguez will be heading on 15 day IL for Thoracic Spine Inflammation. To help out with the short roster due to the injury, the Blue Jays have called up RHP Zach Pop from Triple-A who will be activated and available as early as tonight for their matchup vs the Royals.
ROSTER MOVES:
🔹 RHP Yariel Rodrguez (Thoracic Spine Inflammation) placed on 15-day IL
🔹 RHP Zach Pop recalled from Triple-A and will be active for tonight's game
Rodriguez has been off to a solid start in his first season as a Blue Jay with 4.11 ERA through 15.1 innings pitched, 16 strikeouts and a 1.76 WHIP. The Cuban pitcher struggled a bit yesterday which is possibly due to his injury, allowing 6 hits hits and 2 runs in 3.2 innings.
RHP Pop has been playing in Buffalo so far this season where he has been playing well with a 1.86 ERA in 9.2 innings pitched and a 11 strikeouts.
Hopefully Rodriguez's injury is not too bad and he will be back in the lineup shortly.
