Yusei Kikuchi had a phenomenal game against the New York Yankees on Friday, with the Blue Jays pitcher catching the attention of rival manager Aaron Boone.

With his start on Friday, Kikuchi was looking to avenge a bad loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. In the end, he did just that. As per the Toronto Blue Jays, Kikuchi helped defeat the Yankees in a 3-0 win. It was the team's first shut-out of the season, and Kikuchi was in for the majority of it.
He played over five innings and had a total of seven strikeouts. While he did give up four hits, none of them resulted in any runs. All around, it was just a solid defensive effort.

According to CBS Sports, Yankees manager Aaron Boone had high praise of Kikuchi. Boone felt that his team was taking though at bats, and that time after time, Kikuchi was just out battling them.
"I thought he was really good. We didn't have much going against him the first few innings, but it was kind of in line with what we've been doing -- I think he was around 70 pitches at that three-inning mark -- we were taking tough at-bats, he was just beating us in spots. He did a good job changing speeds. He was quick at the top (of the zone). Worked both sides of the plate too. Didn't have a lot of real good scoring chances."

Tonight, the Blue Jays will play the Yankees at 7:05 PM Eastern Standard Time. If you are in Canada, you will be able to watch the game over on Sportsnet.
