The Toronto Blue are still in negotiations with Vladimir Guerrero Jr but are running out of time since he told them that he would longer talk of a contract extension once Spring Training begins.

During a press conference a few days ago, Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins stated that the team is still focused on getting a deal done with Guerrero but Atkins did not give any situations on the deal.

The Blue Jays are running out of time to re-sign Vladimir Guerrero Jr

The Blue Jays are definitely cutting it close with re-signing Guerrero as the first full squad practice at Spring Training takes place in 8 days meaning the Blue Jays have a little more than a week to get a deal done.

The Blue Jays potential number on a contract extension has bounced around quite a bit but the majority have put it between the $450 and $500 million with the latest report stating that if the Blue Jays land around $450 million, Guerrero will likely accept.
Do you think it makes sense for Vladdy to take a $400 million dollar offer from the Blue Jays right now?
Despite many believing that a deal will get done in the next week, some believe that this might end up getting put on hold which means it will be the main topic of discussion throughout the whole season if they do not trade him away.
However, if Guerrero doesn't get a deal done, his contract situation will be a looming story line all season long and could become a distraction. Bo Bichette is also in the final year of his contract and his future will be similarly discussed. -Farkas

If the Blue Jays end up unable to get a deal done but keep Guerrero until the end of the season, they will be competing with all other teams in free agency and will likely have to pay more to keep him which is why re-signing him now seems like the clear move.
