The Toronto Blue Jays are still trying to sign Vladimir Guerrero Jr to a contract extension and according to MLB Jon Heyman, the two parties are approaching a deal.

The Blue Jays came close to signing Guerrero to an extension prior to Opening Day but were unfortunately unable to get the deal done as it was a $500 million deal but also included a ton of deferred money which lowered the total.

The Blue Jays have made it clear that they want to keep Guerrero to the point where both Ross Atkins and Mark Shapiro have stated in the last couple of weeks that they are confident a deal will get done.
According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Blue Jays are expected to close on a deal worth around $500 million with Guerrero and most experts believe that this will happen soon.

If the Blue Jays end up extending Guerrero for $500 million, most expect the term to sit around 14-15 years which will means Guerrero will be paid an average salary of $33.33 million per season for the rest of his career.
Heyman says the belief remains that the Blue Jays and Vladdy will "figure it out" for close to $500M
While this is ton of money, locking down Guerrero to a massive contract like this will ensure that no matter what the Blue Jays will always have a superstar in their lineup.
