The Toronto Blue Jays need to start making trades after letting so many free agents sign elsewhere and it looks like Chris Bassitt in one of those players they will look to move.

Many thought Chris Bassitt would be move at last year's trade deadline but the Blue Jays decided to hold onto him until the end of the season and are now looking to trade him this winter.

The Blue Jays are looking to trade pitcher Chris Bassitt

Bassitt as of right now is one of the worst pitchers of the Blue Jays starting rotation after a rough year in 2024 but still holds some trade value for a team looking for a consistent bottom of the rotation pitcher.
Chris Bassitt has had a solid tenure with the Blue Jays, but he's entering the final year of his contract. Given how bad basically everyone was in Toronto, a rebuild or at least a retool is probably necessary. -Roberts

The Blue Jays need to move him even if the return is not massive as he is the third highest paid player on the team with $21 million coming his way in 2025 as he heads into the final year of his contract.
Bassitt would be a good addition to most contenders, so the Jays would be able to get a good return which could be used to improve their future prospects. He's making $21 million this year, which is more than all but three players on the roster. -Roberts

If the Blue Jays are able to move Bassitt this off-season that would surely free up some solid payroll space for them to try and add more players that will help them win some games in 2025.
The Blue Jays will definitely have to hold onto part of his contract but if they are able to at least get rid of half, that could get them some great additional spending money this off-season.
