The Blue Jays projected offer to Carlos Estevez has been announced
The Blue Jays have been linked to former Philadelphia Phillies closer Carlos Estevez over the past few days and it looks like things are starting to heat up between the two parties.
According to reports, the Blue Jays could sign Estevez to a three year deal worth $42 million which who pay him an average salary of $14 million per season over the next three years.
Estevez is projected for a three-year, $42 million contract, per Spotrac's Market Value tool. That's a fair price to pay for a 32-year-old who posted a 2.45 ERA in 55 innings last season, even if he tails off a bit in the third year of the deal. -Roberts
Estevez is coming off an incredible season in 2024 as one of the best closers in the MLB, posting a 2.45 ERA in 55 innings pitched between the Los Angeles Angels and Phillies.
While fans are trying not to get their hopes up to high with Estevez after the Blue Jays missed on so many other free agents, some insiders believe the Blue Jays have a real chance at signing him.
"Sure, the Blue Jays have had a tough time signing players in free agency, but adding someone like Estevez, who has been very good over the last couple of years, should be attainable because he doesn't have a long history of success," Hyde said.
Adding Estevez to the Blue Jays bullpen could instantly turns things around for a bullpen that was among the worst in the MLB last season which is why it is such a pressing issue to turn things around.
