Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Chavez has agreed to a minor league deal with the Atlanta Braves once again after failing to make the Texas Rangers.
Chavez is now 41 years old and most thought he might finally retire this off-season but he was quick to state that he wanted to return for 2025 which is when he signed a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers signed
Chavez in free agency on a minor league deal but he was hoping to finally crack the Opening Day roster but failed to which is when they released him back into free agency.
For the second year in a row, Chavez was released by another team right before Opening Day and was signed back once again with the Braves which is exactly what happened once again.
For the second season in a row, Chavez latched on with an AL team in the hopes of making it onto a big league roster for Opening Day. For the second season in a row, that team released him and the Braves were more than happy to bring him right back. Chavez has spent the better part of the past four seasons with the Braves, as every attempt he's made to stick with another organization has usually ended poorly. -CCpower
This is now the sixth stint Chavez will have with the Atlanta Braves in his long career which the first time came all the way back at the beginning of his career in 2010.
Jesse Chavez is back with the Braves for a 6th time. Not sure what the official record is but Chavez ties Billy Martin's Yankees record (1 times a player, 5 times a manager), but with considerably less fanfare and fewer headlines
Last season
Chavez actually put up solid numbers for the Braves which is why it is not much of a surprise that they decided to bring him back this season as he finihsed with a 3.13 ERA in 63.1 innings pitched.
It will be interesting to see how Chavez follows up his 2024 season and if he will be able to crack the MLB roster.
