Blue Jays interested in bringing in Dodgers pitcher Blake Treinen
Dodgers pitcher Blake Treinen is currently in the World Series with Los Angeles as they lead the Yankees 2-0 in the series. Treinen is set to become a free agent once the World Series conclude and is far from the top of the list in terms of available relief pitchers but could be a great options for the Blue Jays due to his consistency.
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Blake Treinen isn't a household name by any means but would be a welcome addition to a Toronto bullpen that will receive a desperately needed overall this winter, per MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. He'll be an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the World Series. -Fisher
Treinen is known for his solid four pitch mix which features his signature mid 90's sinker that had the Yankees struggling in game 2 of the World Series. Treinen would not be the Blue Jays closer but could be a solid relief pitcher for them in 2025.
With a four-pitch mix, which heavily features a mid-90s sinker and an 84 mph wipeout sweeper, Treinen would add a strikeout presence to the bullpen that lacked swing and miss this season. He logged a 30.4 percent strikeout rate in 2024, while the Blue Jays' relievers collectively posted the second-worst mark at 20.7 percent. -Fisher
While Treinen likely will not be the only relief pitcher the Blue Jays will be looking at in the off-season, he is definitely a solid option.
