Toronto Blue Jays former pitcher Tim Mayza has had a strange season going from being DFA'd to being on the New York Yankees World Series roster.

The Blue Jays designated Mayza for assignment back in late June after being the longest tenured player of the roster due to his poor play on the mound but that is where he season turned around.

Former Blue Jays pitcher Tim Mayza speaks on his past season filled with highs and lows

Mayza recently sat down for an interview speaking on his strange season and was open about how badly he played in Toronto before being picked up off waivers by the Yankees which led to him playing in the World Series.
«I was very self-aware that the season was not going as planned and if you don't pitch well, there's always somebody behind you that's trying to take your spot,» Mayza says. «So you constantly have to improve your game or there's a chance that you get released. That was just the reality of the situation.»

The former Blue Jays pitcher admitted that his season was filled with terrible moments followed by some great ones and he opened up about how grateful he is to be in the World Series right now after how his time in Toronto went.
«You look at the season as a whole and the roller-coaster that it's been, realistically, it's brought me to the lowest of lows in my baseball time, but also now we're here and it's the highest of highs,» he says. «So I have felt all emotions and everything in between, and I'm just excited to be a part of the journey with the Yankees, helping any way possible. It led to the World Series. Just a crazy season. I'm fortunate that I was able to land on my feet and be here. It's been awesome.»

While Mayza is not the Yankees main closer, he has still being a solid part of their bullpen since arriving in New York and might get a chance to pitch in the series if the Yankees can push it past 4 games as they are down 2-0 right now.
