The Blue Jays have mentioned recently in a press conference that the team will likely look towards trading assets rather than signing free agents going forward as the offseason is set to close and spring training is about to begin.

Luis Robert Jr looking for a bounce back season

It's clear that the Blue Jays need another bat in their roster to help ignite their offence and help them become competitive against the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles and it appears a trade proposal has surface that could see Robert heading to the Blue Jays in exchange for shortstop Josh Kasevich, pitcher T.J Brock and Outfielder Jonatan Clase.

The big question that surrounds him is health as he is looking for a bounce back here after only playing 100 games last year and struggled to stay on the field. He also has shown trouble with his grind in his game and willing to compete at times, though the Chicago White Sox are the worst team in the MLB.

Robert, 27, was an All-Star in 2023, hitting 38 home runs with an .857 OPS. Injuries limited him to 99 games in 2024, where he struggled with a .657 OPS. However, a change of scenery and a competitive environment could reignite his production. Saurabh Gupta

Blue Jays may score Robert at lower cost

The Blue Jays organization may hit a home run if they acquire Robert as he is looking for a bounce back year, determined to do so and with a rebuilding club in the White Sox.

With the recent misses Of several key free agents including Pete Alonso, Roki Sasaki and Juan Soto the Blue Jays have cash to spend and Robert only holds a base salary of $15 million as he had signed a six year deal worth $50 million which includes club options in 2026 and 2027 and will rise to 20 million a season.
The Blue Jays have control in this deal and it's safe to say that it's worth a trade to land the 27 year old who could help them if he can remain healthy.
