The Toronto Blue Jays surprisingly win American League award which emphasizes just how bad the offense was

This award was introduced in 2020 by Rawlings when they decided to expand their Gold Glove award now rewarding the best defensive teams in each league which the Blue Jays have now won for the second time in a row.

When looking at the Blue Jays numbers the fact that they were named the team Gold Glove winners is not that shocking since they led the MLB with 102 defensive runs saved in 2024 and finished the season with a .984 fielding percentage.

The real shock comes from looking at the numbers since it is surprising that the Blue Jays actually put up those numbers during such a disappointing season since 2024 was one of their worst years in the last decade.

This award really puts into perspective how bad their offense was in 2024 if they were the best defensive team but still missed the last Wild Card spot by 10 games.

As the Blue Jays had Daulton Varsho leading the team on the field and winning a Gold Glove, the Blue Jays defense was clearly very strong unfortunately their offense was not as good.
