The Toronto Blue Jays are surprisingly named the winners of the team Gold Glove award for the best defensive team in the American League.
This award was introduced in 2020 by Rawlings when they decided to expand their Gold Glove award now rewarding the best defensive teams in each league which the Blue Jays have now won for the second time in a row.

When looking at the Blue Jays numbers the fact that they were named the team Gold Glove winners is not that shocking since they led the MLB with 102 defensive runs saved in 2024 and finished the season with a .984 fielding percentage.
Toronto led all of baseball with 102 defensive runs saved (DRS) in 2024 and finished fourth in outs above average (OAA) with 26. The Blue Jays finished the season with a .984 fielding percentage. -Sportsnet
The real shock comes from looking at the numbers since it is surprising that the Blue Jays actually put up those numbers during such a disappointing season since 2024 was one of their worst years in the last decade.

This award really puts into perspective how bad their offense was in 2024 if they were the best defensive team but still missed the last Wild Card spot by 10 games.
Daulton Varsho won this year's Gold Glove award for his work in centre field, leading the American League with 16 DRS at the position. He also recorded 12 DRS in left field. -Sportsnet
