The Blue Jays looking to move Vladimir Guerrero Jr to third base as they look to sign Pete Alonso
Guerrero has played third base before and has mentioned this season after playing a couple games there that he would love to get more playing time there and it looks like it might happen next season.
Apparently, according to at least one MLB insider, the dream isn't dead. As the New York Post's Jon Heyman reported this week, the Jays are still considering the move on a more permanent basis - if it means they can sign a big-name free agent first baseman. -Fisher
Alonso has been one of the best hitters in the majors for quite sometime now and if the Blue Jays are able to land him in free agency, he will surely be a big part of the offense next season.
"The Blue Jays are open to moving Vlad Guerrero Jr. from first base to third, which could potentially open up a spot for Pete Alonso," according to Heyman.
Alonso is coming off a down year for him in his last season with the New York Mets which he still managed to hits 34 homeruns and 88 RBIs which would be a career year most players which proves just how good he is.
Turning 30 before Opening Day, Alonso is coming off a "down" year for him, in which he hit .240 with a .788 OPS but still popped 34 home runs and drove in 88. -Fisher
This could be a very interesting move if the Blue Jays are truly interested in Alonso but they would also need to figure out what to do with Ernie Clement if Guerrero takes his spot at third base.
