Toronto Blue Jays fans have been wondering how the team will replace Jordan Romano as their main closer for next season and it looks like pitcher Chad Green will likely take on that role.

The Blue Jays decided to non-tender their closer Jordan Romano last week at the deadline which has left them with a big hole in their bullpen since they need to sign a bunch of relievers plus one pitcher to be their go-to closer for next season.

Despite having a rough season last year, the Blue Jays had one of the best closers in baseball between 2021-2023 in Jordan Romano and now that he is gone, the new closer will have some big shoes to fill.
The Blue Jays have been rumored to be taking some interests in certain closers on the market such as Carlos Estevez and Tanner Scott but apparently they are also interested in possibly making Chad Green their main closer in 2025.
Green took over as the Blue Jays closer last season once Romano went down with an injury and did quite well finishing the season with 17 saves and a 3.21 ERA in 53.1 innings pitched.
After Romano's injury, right-hander Chad Green took over the Blue Jays closer. Through the end of August, Green performed well in the role, earning 17 saves with a 1.61 ERA. However, he hit a wall in September, surrendering 11 earned runs in 8 2/3 innings. -Graves

Green is a 9 year veteran and has a ton of experience that has been consistent throughout his career with only one year with an ERA above 4.00 in his last 5 seasons which came in 2023.
As a veteran of nine MLB seasons, Green has extensive experience pitching in leverage situations. However, his strikeout rate dropped to 21.9 percent this year, well below his 31.2 percent career rate. Furthermore, his average exit velocity allowed was a concerning 91.3 mph, ranking in the bottom one percent of MLB. -Graves

While getting Tanner Scott would surely be the number 1 choice, if Green ends up the closer, it won't end up being a terrible move.
