Several baseball pundits felt that Lovelady had a chance to land of spot within the bullpen as the Blue Jays made major changes to their pitching staff in the offseason.
The Blue Jays have also chosen not to add Ryan Yarbrough to the roster as the team had selected their players and Yarbrough chose to pack up his gear and leave the facility.
When Yarbrough signed his contract with the Blue Jays, he had an opt out clause which could be used if he was not selected for the opening day roster. He has done so and became a free agent at 2:00 PM eastern on Sunday.
I always say about George Springer: His ball skills are still really impressive in the outfield. When he gets to a ball, his natural athleticism, body control and hand-eye still take over. He won't play much centre this season for the #BlueJays, but he can hang:
The opening day roster when it comes to the starting rotation has been a lock through most of spring training. The team will have Jose Berrios, Kevin Gausman, Max Scherzer, Chris Bassett an Bowden Francis as the starting pitchers for the team.
Blue Jays set for Opening Day against the Orioles
Blue Jays manager John Schneider also made their announcement for their final 26-man roster and the team is now prepared to play against the
Baltimore Orioles which will be on March 27th at the Rogers Centre.
This will be the first time the Blue Jays have played their home opener on their first day of the season in three years and many Blue Jays fans will wait and watch to see how they respond and hope for a strong start.
