Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider had an interview with Daivid Singh this morning and took a lot of accountability for last season, adding that this season will be different.

The Blue Jays are coming off a horrendous 2024 season in which everyone from the fans to the players are hoping that the same will not happen this year which is why so many changes from players to staff were made.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider speaks on holding players more accountable this year

Schneider took a lot of accountability for last season stating that did the players have to be better yes but he also had to make better decisions and hold players more accountable when they were not performing.
The Blue Jays manager admitted that he was rigid last season when it came to making lineup adjustments and that he should be more flexible moving forward, especially when it comes to using his bench players.
"On paper, numbers will say it - probably was a little bit rigid with lineup construction and probably was a little bit rigid with pinch-hit opportunities and not deploying the bench as much as I probably could have," he adds. "And then, you make adjustments for that." -Schneider

While Schneider did not directly call any player out, it is hard to hear those comments and not think of George Springer who was given a ton of chances at leadoff last year despite being awful at the plate.
This makes it sound like Springer gonna have a short leash if he's not hitting righties
If Springer starts off the season hitting just as bad as last year it looks like he might end up losing his spot rather quickly.
Clearly Schneider plans on holding player up to a certain standard this year and since they seem to have some solid bench players such as Alan Roden, Myles Straw and Davis Schneider, the starting lineup will need to perform if they want to keep their spot.
It will be interesting to see how everything ends up playing out this season.
