The reasoning behind why Alex Anthopoulos left Toronto finally revealed

The Blue Jays beloved former GM Alex Anthopoulos officially left Toronto in 2015 after refusing a 5 year extension but his reason was not disclosed until now.
Anthopoulos did incredible things for the Blue Jays as GM from 2009-2015 by bringing in phenomenal players such as Josh Donaldson, Troy Tulowitzki, David Price and Jose Bautista.
According to reports, the reasoning behind Anthopoulos not signing that extension back in 2015 was he did not see eye to eye with Mark Shapiro and refused to follow his every move.
Alex Anthopoulos. Did excellent work as a GM in TO and, of course, Atlanta. The architect of the 2015 #BlueJays team. He brought Donaldson, Tulowitzki, Price. In 2008, he helped bring Jose. I believe he was basically pushed out the door bc he did not see eye to eye w/ Shapiro.

Clearly this was a huge mistake as Anthopoulos went on to build an incredible team in Atlanta and lead them to a World Series win in 2021. Shapiro should have given Anthopoulos the right to make his own decisions but ultimetely ended up chasing him away.
Afterwards, Shapiro decide to hire someone he could fully control in Ross Atkins and it has been clear how bad of a strategy this has been.
