The Toronto Blue Jays are still trying to decide if they will sign Vladimir Guerrero Jr to a contract extension or end up trading him this off-season but a possible contract has been announced similar to the one Rafael Devers signed two years ago.
Jon Heyman announces Vladimir Guerrero Jr possible contract comparison
MLB insider Jon Heyman was live on Bleacher Report in which he spoke of the Blue Jays potentially signing Guerrero to a deal worth around $350 million on an 11 year term.
Thinks Vladdy wants $350 million. Says Burnes is a possible landing spot for Jays and that the #BlueJays have a legitimate shot at Soto, even though others don't think so.
Raffy Devers got 10/$313.5 million at the same age as Vladdy.
11/$350M would be $31.8M AAV, which is about the same. Think that's a pretty fair comp considering their career numbers.
If Guerrero continues to produce at the rate he did last season and even better, locking him down for the next 11 years at $31.8 million per season could end up being an incredible deal down the line.
Hopefully the Blue Jays are able to get a deal done this off-season since if they let things go into the 2025 season and still plan on signing him, things between the two parties could turn for the worse.
