The Blue Jays have agreed to a deal with second baseman Michael Stefanic
The Blue Jays announced this afternoon that they have agreed to terms with infielder Michael Stefanic an a one year minor league but have not announce if this new deal includes a major league Spring Training invite.
Blue Jays sign Michael Stefanic to a Minor League Deal.
Stefanic is a 28 year old 2B/3B who's hit .591 OPS in his career over 90 games.
Per @Nate_Heisler , the #BlueJays have signed INF Michael Stefanic to a minor league deal.
Stefanic had a .966 OPS last year in Triple-A, but has only played 90 career MLB games.
Stefanic had an incredible .966 OPS in Triple-A last season but only played in the majors 40 games with a .218 batting average, .301 on base percentage to go along with 0 homeruns and 8 RBIs.
This is the most Ross Atkins signing I've ever seen.
Steamer projects Stefanic for a 107 wRC+ though, and he slashed .348/.456/.510 at AAA.
This move is solid for the Blue Jays minor league system but if Ross Atkins thinks that he can be a solution for the Blue Jays at second base, this might become an issue.
This move gives the Blue Jays another infielder that cannot be an everyday player which has many fans scratching their heads.
