Former Blue Jay Santiago Espinal signs a one year contract with the Cincinnati Reds
Heyman just announced that along with a few others signings that went through this afternoon that Espinal and the Reds have agreed to a one year deal worth $2.4 million to avoid arbritration.

Espinal was not a free agent but if he was not tendered a contract by the non-tender deadline tonight, he would eligible for arbitration in which he was projected to land a $4 million contract.
The third baseman played for the Blue Jays for 4 seasons between 2020-2023 in which he had the best season of his career in 2022 when he was named to the all-star game with 4 other Blue Jays players.
The Blue Jays ended up trading Espinal to the Reds in March and he ended up having an average season with a .246 batting average and 2.95 on base percentage to go along with 9 homeruns in 118 games.
Espinal was traded from the Blue Jays to the Reds in March and had a .246/.295/.356 slash line with nine home runs and 11 steals in 118 games during 2024. He should fill a utility role for Cincinnati again in 2025. -Roto Wire
