The Toronto Blue Jays seem to be out on free agent Juan Soto even some reports believe that they still have a chance and will try to trade for St Louis Cardinals Nolan Arenado instead.

The Blue Jays are in need of offense heading into to 2025 as the team struggled at the plate apart from silver slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr which is why one of the team's top priorities this off-season is bringing in solid hitters.

Blue Jays are out on Juan Soto and will try to trade for Nolan Arenado instead according to reports

According to recent reports, the Blue Jays do not have a chance at landing Soto in free agency and as they look to still bring in some offense this winter, they are apparently looking to trade for St Louis Cardinals superstar Nolan Arenado.
Bleacher report's Joel Reuter believes that this could be a great move for the Blue Jays who are looking for offense and do not spend too much to get him in terms of prospects.
"It might not cost much to acquire Nolan Arenado in terms of prospect talent if the Blue Jays are willing to take on the bulk of his remaining salary," wrote Reuter. "Aggressively pursuing additions this winter might also help convince Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to stick around long-term."

Arenado would be a great move for the Blue Jays since he is a consistent hitter but also due to his great defensive game which would give them an all-star third baseman and allow them to move Ernie Clement to second base.
In 2024 he hit .272 in 152 games. He regressed defensively, but could still be a huge addition for the Blue Jays. They have the money and the Cardinals may be looking to move him and start the youth movement. He could replace the defense they lost in the hot corner when Matt Chapman left as well. -Mohammed

Many insiders believe the Blue Jays still have a chance in signing Soto but with New Mets Owner Steve Cohen stating that he refuses to be outbid, it will be extremely hard for the Blue Jays to make a competitive offer if the value surpasses $700 million.
The good news is that even if the Blue Jays miss out on Soto, there is a ton of great hitter available in the free agent market or the trading block.
