It appears that Toronto Blue Jays starting Max Scherzer has received encouraging news regarding his thumb injury that has plagued him through spring training this year.
According to Blue Jays manager John Schneider, the 40-year-old pitcher is progressing well in his recovery and will be able to play a game against the Minnesota Twins during spring training.
Blue Jays will ease Scherzer into the rotation
The plan is for the veteran to throw 60-65 pitches and see how his thumb responds to the outing. Assuming he does not suffer a setback in Fort Myers, Florida, perhaps Scherzer will be on schedule for the beginning of the new MLB season. Alex House
Despite having several injuries over the past couple of years, the Blue Jays are hoping the two time World Series champion will give their starting rotation a boost and veteran leadership as the team is looking for a bounce back here after such a dreadful 2024 season.
Scherzer has not posted an ERA greater than 4.00 in each of the last two
seasons. When he is on the mound, his team has a decent chance of winning the ballgame, hence why Toronto signed him to a one-year, $15.5 million deal. Alex House
Scherzer will help Blue Jays this season
Some pundits and fans across the league feel that Scherzer is on the decline it may not be an impactful picture considering the rigour of 162 game season.
The Blue Jays however, feel otherwise and think he will give the Blue Jays the pitching they need as the team continues to be shrouded in doubt and question marks.

The Blue Jays have five days remaining in their spring training before their season is set to begin on March 27th when the team returns home to the Rogers Centre where they will play their first home opener as their first game of the season for the first time in three seasons.
The team will take on the Orioles in their first series and hopefully the team can get off to a strong start as many in the organization would like to silence their critics and give the fans something to cheer about.
