With the Toronto Blue Jays needing a win in their home opener, Jose Berrios came through with an incredible pitching performance that gave the Jays exactly what they were asking for.

Prior to the home opener, the Blue Jays had lost two in a row to the New York Yankees. Overall, this created quite a bit of urgency. Berrios needed to come in with a solid performance, while the Blue Jays bats also needed to do their job. Thankfully, everyone came together.
According to the Blue Jays, Berrios was on fire in this game as he pitched six innings and two-thirds. Furthermore, he walked only one batter, gave up four hits, and allowed zero runs. On top of all of this, he came through with six strikeouts. It was exactly what the doctor ordered as the Jays went on to win, 5-2.

According to MLB Stats, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Davis Schneider came up huge for the Blue Jays. Vlad had two hits and an RBI for the day. Meanwhile, Schneider had two hits and two RBI. In order to win games, you need to have your best players play their best games. In the end, that is what the Blue Jays got, improving their record to 5-6 on the season.
Tonight, the Blue Jays will have an opportunity to go back-to-back against the Mariners. This would be their first winning streak of the season. If you are in Canada, the game will be available over on Sportsnet, at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
