George Springer and the Toronto Blue Jays are starting their season today. So far, the team is dominating the Tampa Bay Rays, and they are doing it thanks to a plethora of home runs.
If you are a Blue Jays fan, then today is pretty heavenly. Of course, this is because today marks the beginning of a brand-new season. This 162-game campaign will be filled with ups and downs. However, the Blue Jays are ready for all of it. After a disappointing Wild Card exit in 2023, they know that there is a lot riding on this season. If they don't make a deep run, it could be years before they have another opportunity to do so.
One player that fans have their eyes on is George Springer. In 2023, he hit 21 home runs which is relatively low compared to the rest of his career. Moreover, he had a career-low in on-base percentage and batting average. Thankfully, he is already off to a hot start in 2024. In the video down below, you can see that Springer hit the first home run of the Blue Jays' season. This home run helped tie the game for the Jays as they were losing 1-0.
Subsequently, Cavan Biggio ended up hitting another homer to go up 2-1. After that, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. also hit a home run and gave the team a 3-1 lead. Now, the score is 6-2 and the Blue Jays are in the driver's seat. Only time will tell whether or not they will be able to close this game out, once and for all. The Rays have a ton of fight, so it is not going to be easy.
