Left fielder Ernie Clement has made his way onto the Opening Day roster for the Toronto Blue Jays. While it has been an uphill climb for him, he seems poised to have a breakout season with the team.

Today marks the official start of the Blue Jays season. The team is taking on the Tampa Bay Rays in the first match of a four-game series. It's a huge game for numerous players on the team, especially those who weren't guaranteed to make the Opening Day roster. Of course, one such player is left-fielder Ernie Clement, who got to play 29 games with the team last season. After a disappointing six-game stint with Oakland back in 2022, Clement is ready to cement himself as a potential star. The Blue Jays are giving him that opportunity, and while speaking to 13WHAM, he revealed just how appreciative he is right now.
"Brighton grad Ernie Clement is "appreciative" to be on the opening day roster for the Toronto Blue Jays. "I busted my tail and it's nice to be rewarded with that."
Additionally, Clement made it clear that he is willing to be a team player, no matter the situation. His role on the team could be changed on a dime, and he is prepared for any possibility. It is yet another example of why the Blue Jays want Clement on this roster.
«I have to be ready for everything, pinch-running, pinch-hitting and a bunch of starts, but they are going to play the matchup. They have a core group of guys who will play every day in the first five, six spots in that order and then it will shuffle after that.»

The Blue Jays' Opening Day game commences at 4:10 PM Eastern Standard Time. If you are in Canada, the game will be available to watch over on Sportsnet. In Tampa Bay, the game can be viewed on Bally Sports Sun.
