Former Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Justin Turner is finally attracting some attention in free agency as the Chicago Cubs seem to be interested.

The Blue Jays and Cubs are both currently fighting to land free agent Alex Bregman along with the Red Sox and Tigers but it looks like the Cubs might be interested in Turner if they miss out on Bregman.

According to recent reports, the Cubs are very interested in Bregman as they have already made him a four year offer surpassing $100 million but it looks like Bregman is looking for a longer term.
MLB insider Ken Rosenthal recently stated that if the Cubs end up missing out on Bregman they see Turner as an interesting secondary option but the signing might only happen once Spring Training begins.
- The Chicago Cubs, continuing to explore options even after the start of their spring training, are considering free agent Justin Turner as a potential addition in case Alex Bregman signs with another team, multiple league sources told The Athletic on Monday. -Rosenthal

Turner is attracting interest from apparently a few teams that are looking into Bregman, as they all see Turner as a solid back up option if they miss out on Bregman.
The Cubs remain in the mix for both free agents, whose markets overlap to a degree. Turner is drawing interest from some teams that are also tracking Bregman, an All-Star third baseman and the highest-ranking player (No. 7) remaining on The Athletic's Top 40 Free Agent Big Board. -Rosenthal

The former Blue Jays third baseman was attracting attention from the Mariners earlier this off-season but they signed Donovan Solano instead and the Cincinnati Reds were also interested but have seemed to back away.
Earlier this offseason, the Seattle Mariners were interested in bringing back Turner before pivoting toward Donovan Solano, signing the veteran infielder to a one-year, $3.5 million contract. At one point, the Cincinnati Reds were also in contact with Turner. -Rosenthal

It will be interesting to see if the 40 year old end up landing a contract before the start of Spring Training.
