The MLB draft began last night and it seems the Blue Jays made an incredible pick at 20th overall taking Trey Yesavage.
Yesavage is a RHP from East Carolina that seems to be the only pitcher in college baseball that has a four pitch mix between a fastball, splitter, curveball and slider.
With the 20th pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, our #BlueJays select RHP Trey Yesavage from East Carolina.
He has a four pitch mix (fastball, splitter, slider, curve) and he had a 2.05 ERA over 15 starts in 2024 with 14 K/9.
Blue Jays scouts seems to be very happy with their pick as they believe Yesavage has a very solid base and once he goes pro will be able to properly develop within the organization.
#BlueJays scouting director Shane Farrell said the club is «thrilled» with the Trey Yesavage pick.
«We feel like we got a pitcher who is advanced, who comes equipped with good pitches and has some built-in workload already. We're feeling like we have a good foundation in place.»
Despite many believing the Blue Jays should have gone with an outfielder but it seems like they ended getting an incredible first round pick regardless.
