Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman seems to have big plans to get back to being one of the MLB's best pitchers after a tough 2024 campaign.
Gausman had a rough year in 2024 after battling a injury during Spring Training and returning way too quickly which he has admitted himself which caused him to have some terrible performances to start the year which he eventually came out of.
Gausman had a very un-Gausman-like start to the season. He got off to a slow start thanks to a wonky shoulder, posting a 4.50 ERA in the first half. He bounced back with a 2.92 second-half ERA and helped the rotation turn things around and become one of the best in the league. -Fisher
Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman is looking to add a new pitch to his arsenal for the upcoming season
In a recent interview, Gausman made it clear that he is tired of excuses and not winning, he made a point of saying his only goal is to win a World Series and has no need for personal accolades.
Gausman stated that he will be working a ton on his game this off-season and plan on adding a sinker to his pitch arsenal. He has used a sinker before but plans on mastering it over the winter as he wants to be able to use it at any given time.
In a recent appearance on the Deep Left Field podcast, Gausman revealed that he'll be working on his sinker over the offseason. It's not an entirely new pitch for him, but if he can master the fastball variation, it should add a new wrinkle to his repertoire for the 2025 season. -Fisher
If Gausman is able to return to being one of the best pitchers in the American League, the Blue Jays will definitely be taking the right step into becoming a competitive team once again in 2025.
