MLB insider Keegan Matheson believes that if a deal between the Toronto Blue jays and Vladimir Guerrero is not done this off-season, it will likely be the end of his time in Toronto.

The Blue Jays have yet to come to any kind of contract extension agreement with Vladimir Guerrero and the way the front office has spoken, they are not too concerned with rushing a deal this off-season.

Keegan Matheson believes if a deal does not get done with Vladimir Guerrero this off-season it likely will not happen

MLB insider Keegan Matheson stated that the Blue Jays should do everything possible to get a deal done with Guerrero this off-season but if that does not happen, he will likely hit the free agent market in 2025. The Blue jays could still sign him when he becomes a free agent next winter but it is a risky game since many other teams will likely be making massive offers.
"Let's focus on the 'when' here. It's already clear to anyone with eyeballs that the Blue Jays should do everything possible to keep Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in Toronto, but the timing matters. To me, it either has to happen this offseason or it will turn into a situation that stretches into Guerrero's free agency," Matheson wrote.

If Guerrero ends up leaving in free agency, the Blue Jays will be left with nothing but a few draft picks and it will go down as one of the worst moves the Blue Jays have made in their team history.
The longer this drags out, the more likely it is that Guerrero thinks about free agency. The more he thinks about free agency, the more likely it is that he departs in free agency for nothing more than a compensatory draft pick. -Rotman
