MLB insider Shi David revealed some pretty interesting news regarding bench coach Don Mattingly last night as he might find himself in a new position by next year.
Mattingly has been a coach with the Blue Jays for two years now and it seems like they value the former all-star and New York Yankee quite a bit.
According to insider Shi David, he believes that the Blue Jays might look into switching Mattingly's role with the team but not into their new manager but into a position in the front office.
"Maybe Don Mattingly transitions to a front office role after the season. I know the front office really values his opinion."

The Blue Jays have already made some changes prior to the end of the season, firing two of their pitching coordinators as the Jays pitching had a very rough season in 2024.
Now it looks like they will be making some more changes which now involves Mattingly but as they value his opinion, they will be keeping him but promoting him to a role that has a greater impact on the team.
There has been no update on what the exact title will be but it seems to be in the front office if Mattingly is willing to leave the dugout.
Fans did not take too kindly to this news as they believe Mattingly should be fired.
The front office is very stupid then
Another reason whoever runs the front office should be fired first.
Just when I thought things couldn't get worse lol
