The Toronto Blue Jays are set to take on the Miami Marlins in Florida for the final game of this series and of both these team's season.
Earlier this week, pitcher Chris Bassitt spoke to the media stating that he wanted to pitch the final game of the season since it was his turn in the rotation despite the team saying they wanted to go a different route.
Bassitt had a rough last game on the mound against the Red Sox and the Blue Jays saw it as the perfect time to shut his season down. The Blue Jays pitcher made it clear that he is healthy and that he should play if it is his turn in the rotation and the last thing the team should do is use the bullpen for the entire game.
Well it looks like the Blue Jays are not too concerned with how Bassitt feels as he will not get to pitch the final game of the season according to manager John Schneider.
Chris Bassitt will no longer pitch Game 162 for the #BlueJays, John Schneider says.
Now a «TBA» day.
Some fans were happy with this decision as they feel that Bassitt is way passed his prime and shouldn't even be on the team while others felt this was another bad move by management.
He shouldn't even be on the roster, this was another massive Atkins fail not to move him at the deadline.
Why though. Any elaboration? He was absolutely right for what he said about the start and trying to protect a journeyman like Yarborough from a potential injury or being shelled in a game that doesn't matter.
Another dumb move by a dumb manager and a dumb organization. So, not surprising.
