Netflix announces an incredible Boston Red Sox documentary that follows one of the best comeback story in baseball history.
The 3 episode docuseries will follow the teams run to the World Series in 2004 after an 86-year drought an the famous curse of the Bambino.
The three-episode series features exclusive interviews with players, including Pedro Martinez, David Ortiz, and Kevin Millar, as well as the team's former manager Terry Francona, former general manager and vice president Theo Epstein, and many others who made the 2004 win possible.
For those who do not know the backstory, the curse of the Bambino came to fruition when the Red Sox decided to sell Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees in 1919. After Ruth left the team, Boston did not win a World Series title until... you guessed it, 2004.
Many examples of what is known as a «treaty curse» can be found in ancient Christian and Hebraic texts, where those who break an oath or covenant are damned with a malediction. One illustration of this idea is Esarhaddon, king of the Neo-Assyrian Empire, threatening those who betray him by stating, «[May] your days be dark, your years be dim» and «May a foreign enemy divide your spoil.»
This feature will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Red Sox coming back from 3-0 in the playoffs to the New York Yankees before sweeping the Cardinals in the World Series.
Do not miss the premiere of the series on October 23rd, 2024.
