Yankees Hal Steinbrenner is worried about a few teams including the Blue Jays
Steinbrenner told reporters that his meeting went very well with Soto and that there was a lot of back and forth dialogue but did not want to get into any details about what was said or if they made an official offer.
Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner confirmed that club officials recently met with free agent slugger Juan Soto in California, describing it as a "good meeting" that included "very honest back-and-forth dialogue" without divulging many other details. -Castillo
When asked about other teams having deep pockets, Steinbrenner admitted to being worried regarding a couple owners and corporations which was clearly pointed towards the Blue Jays ownership.
"I could say that about a couple other owners too," Steinbrenner said when asked about Cohen's spending power. "Or corporations, for that matter, that represent the ownership group. So, I mean, of course it's a concern."
If Steinbrenner is worried about the Blue Jays actually having a chance at signing Soto this must mean that they are somewhat of a threat even if fans are not fully convinced.
Despite Steinbrenner stating he had a good meeting with Soto, the way he spoke of the meeting definitely brings up some red flags for Yankee fans as he did not seem overly confident.
