Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer makes some worrying comments on his thumb injury
Blue Jays reporter Hazel Mae spoke to Scherzer yesterday and despite stating that he is not in too much pain he made some discouraging comments heading into the season.
Scherzer stated that after his last start his injury has not gone worse or swollen up but that he is doing the best he can to manage it which has resulted him in changing the way he pitches and prepares for games.
Asked Scherzer how the thumb is:
«It's ok. It didn't get worse. It didn't blow up. I'm managing it, trying to stay with it.»
Scherzer has had to change his routines, including the treatment on it, he's had to «back off bullpens», and change the way he throws.

This is all worrying since the season has not even begun yet and Scherzer is already trying to manage a pretty serious injury to try and keep pitching as much as he can.
When manager John Schneider was asked about the issue he stated that Scherzer has looked good pitching over the last couple days and if he does not feel any serious pain he will be on the mound Saturday.
Asked John Schneider about Max Scherzer's thumb:
«Still going in the right direction with how he's feeling each day. He's going to get off the mound here this afternoon and assuming all goes well, like it has been, he'll be ready to roll Saturday (vs #Orioles) #BlueJays
Hopefully Scherzer is able to find a solution to this problem that will keep him in the lineup for the entire season.
